Playing golf is one type of such activity because it has the benefits of both sports and recreation. Conventionally, golf is an outdoor game played on a large course. Playing golf is something that takes an afternoon to do, and it takes you out of the social network of the office (cell phones and pagers on the links are for philistines). When you’re not taking your shot, your mind is idle, and the physical exercise loosens you up. Playing golf is like being naked–you are completely exposed. In one minute joy and excitement change to anger and disgust and your playing partners get to watch you fall apart like a house of cards in a hurricane.

Playing golf is one of the sports that you can constantly improve your skills in. It is also a good excuse for getting out of the house and being outdoors. Golfers can also take pleasure in watching nature in action — squirrels, rabbits, deer and in some locations even moose. Playing golf is not like walking, it does not come naturally. Even kicking a soccer ball comes much more naturally than a golf swing.

Playing golf is one of the most fun experiences you will ever have. Golf is even considered as one of the best games in the world. Learning to play golf is like trying to go up a down escalator while bouncing on a pogo stick. Sure, you may know what you’re trying to do. Playing Golf is about hitting a ball at a target. The better you learn this skill, the fewer number of times you have to do it to get around the course.

Basically, all you need to start playing golf is a set of golf clubs - three woods, collection of 3-9-irons, pitching wedge, sand wedge and a putter. As you develop your skills, you can buy additional clubs for more advanced shots.

Golfing is a great way to spend your vacation. It is a wonderful place for women to revel in the fun because there is good weather and beaches that promotes sun tanning and sports. Golfing is a sport that requires intense concentration. For this reason the atmosphere is almost always quiet on the golf course. Golfing is a gentleman’s game. Everything about it boasts of elegance and style.

Learning to golf is a sport that requires golfers to have the proper length and flex in golf clubs. The first thing is your gender, men and women use different golf clubs. Golfing is a dangerous sport so if these guys need a hobby they better take up a safer one like racing!

Roughly half the golf strokes you take during a round of golf occur on the putting green. If you want to improve your handicap, improving your putting is the quickest way to have your golf scores come down. You can hit a bad drive and still make a par however hit a bad putt and you can not make up that stroke. Putting training aids along with the tips below will improve your putting stroke and lower your handicap.

Tips for your putting setup:

First, as you address the golf ball, the golf ball should be positioned equal to where the logo would be positioned on your left chest for a right handed golfer and positioned on your right chest for a left handed golfer. With this is forward golf ball position, the putter will not be descending but ascending through impact and the golf ball. The golf ball will be placed forward of the bottom of your swing arc. In addition, your arms should hang freely and hang straight down and not out. In addition, you should be able to take your address position and drop a golf ball from in-between your eyes. This ball should drop and hit the ball on the ground.

Second, simply set up with sixty to seventy percent (again it is individual) of your weight on your left foot for right handed golfers or on your right foot for left handed golfers. When you make your stroke, your weight will not shift. It will stay in the same place. Again, setting your weight forward will make sure that the putt will be hit while you are in balance and you do not have has many moving parts.

Now to finish your golf set up, as you look down at the golf ball, move your hands so they are just forward of the golf ball. As you make your putting stroke, your hands will return to this same position at impact and then through to your finish position. With your hands ahead of the ball at impact, the momentum of your putter is more likely to be moving forward towards the hole. In English this means your ball will be starting on the target line more often than not.

Tips for your putting stroke

Relieve some of that tension in your putting stroke, pay attention to your stroke by saying the words “one thousand one”. Take the putter back as you say .one thousand.. On your forward swing say “one.” Why would this help? This allows your brain to process information better and uses your athleticism to hit the putt. The result will be less tension in your body. Use this putting tip while you use a putting aid such as The Putting Arc or the Putting Track.

As you implement this into your putting stroke, you will find that your brain and body will work together and your distance or lag putting will improve. You will have a putting stroke with feel and rhythm quickly. In turn, an improved handicap will be yours.

Every golfer wants to hit the ball straight every time. It sure would save a lot of strokes and make the day more pleasant, wouldn’t it?

But one thing that most amateurs do, or overdo, keeps them from hitting the ball consistently.

I’m talking about “wrist cock”. Most high and mid handicappers severely overdo this wrist cock thinking it will lead to power.

Instead, it throws the clubhead off line and forces the golfer to make compensations in the downswing to get it back on line.

At address, the bottom of the left hand and the left forearm create an angle. The angle is different for everybody, but everybody has one. Average is probably about 30 degrees.

At the top of the backswing, this angle has disappeared. The line formed by the left hand and forearm has become straight, or in many cases the angle has actually reversed. This effect is know as wrist cock.

There are many different theories as to whether you cock your wrist early in the swing, or later. You shouldn’t worry about it.

Some would argue that power comes from the wrist cock and to reduce or eliminate it would reduce your power. How much power does it really generate?

To prove to yourself what the wrist cock actually accomplishes in the golf swing, take your normal address position. Then, eliminate the angle formed by the left hand and forearm by picking up the clubhead. What have you just done?

It should be obvious that you have just thrown the clubhead significantly off the line you are trying to swing it on.

When you attempt to swing a golf club down a certain path, how much sense does it make to allow the club head to stray from that path at any point in the swing? Especially by three or more feet!

If your timing is great, you may be able to readjust and get it back on line before you get to the ball. But for most of us mere mortals, we are at best inconsistent at getting there.

Yanking the clubhead off the proper swing path by cocking the wrist, thus eliminating the angle formed by the left wrist and forearm, is the cause of many errant shots.

The wrist cocking action takes the clubhead off the line you trying to swing on. If you want to hit the ball solidly and consistently straight, you should keep the clubhead on line.

You do this by preserving the angle formed by the left hand and forearm as much as possible throughout the swing. It is much easier to keep this angle intact than it is to eliminate it on the backswing then recreate it exactly on the downswing.

But what about power? Ask yourself, how much power is being generated by the act of returning the club to the correct line?

As you re-form the wrist/forearm angle the club has to travel in effectively a sideways path.

If you want to see how much power is generated in re-establishing this angle, go back to the above example of eliminating the wrist/forearm angle at address. Reestablish that angle while maintaining the address position by lowering the golf club.

The elimination and reset of the angle only adds sideways momentum to the clubhead relative to the line of the shot. It does not in any way affect the forward momentum of the club on the downswing.

Therefore, it can have very little effect on the amount of clubhead speed and power that gets to the ball.

The power comes from the rotation and forward swinging of the arms as they follow the shoulders around. The “wrist cock” has nothing to do with generating power.

Instead, it puts the golfer in a situation that requires them to make an adjustment of three feet or more to the path of the club on the backswing. That requires the same adjustment on the downswing to get the club back on line. Ever wonder why golf is so hard?

The better you are able to preserve a little bit of left wrist/forearm angle throughout the golf swing, the straighter you will hit the ball. You don’t need to be stiff about it, though. Just remember that the more of that angle you lose, the bigger the compensation it will require on the downswing.

Keep things simple and you will hit the ball straighter.

Now let me show you how to putt it online everytime

See you there.

You may receive all the greatest golf tips in the world, take countless lessons and get superior instruction and still may not be able to gain consistency. If you’re like most golfers, you want to improve, not just hack around the golf course. It’s important to remember, your golf swing is what drives your score; not your clubs or ball.

Overall, you generally want to play golf with confidence. It’s been proven that thinking positively about bettering your golf game will benefit you more than playing to compete with your partners and trying to win for winnings sake. Approach the game with a positive attitude and repeat affirmations if you can, such as “I play great golf all the time.”

Putts and short chips are ideally played without much movement of the body, but most other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing. Try not to grip the club too tightly. After the ball is hit, the follow-through stage consists of a continued rotation to the left.

The backswing is a rotation to the right, consisting of a shifting of the player’s body weight to the right side, a turning of the pelvis and shoulders, lifting of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists. At the end of a backswing the hands are above the right shoulder, with the golf club pointing more or less in the intended direction of ball flight. Before you swing, make sure you’re relaxed; contract all your muscles tightly for a moment and then relax them.

Standing over the ball for too long a time and wondering whether you’re going to swing the club correctly can easily result in a skewed shot, or completely missing the ball. Ask your golf pro to evaluate your posture while swinging. The most important thing about the golf swing is the angle and not the strength that’s applied to it.

Trust your golf club to do the job it was intended to do. Many golfers who are strongly left-handed in their daily life prefer the right-handed golf swing.

Don’t underestimate the value of fitness when it comes to your golf swing and your overall golf game. It’s no secret; most of the professional players actively participate in workouts. Using a weighted club, make rotational golf swings to improve your power.

There are golf swing aids that will help you with swing alignment. Golf aids are often for sale at your pro shop or local golf shop. There are golf swing aids that act as driving range simulators. Golf swing aids will improve your golf game. There are a wide range of golf swing aids on the market today to help the beginning and advanced golfer. Look for golf swing aids at your local golf course.

Overall, investing in golf swing aids will greatly improve your golf swing and your golf game. Most of all don’t waste your money on a golf swing aid you don’t need or will never use. Keep in mind that with some golf swing aids, you may still need advice or help from an expert.

There are a number of good golf swing aids on the market today. Before buying any golf swing aid, check with an expert to get an idea of what problem you need to work on first; backlift of golf swing, momentum of downward thrust or stance for example.

Try to concentrate on one golf swing weakness at time. Practice, practice, practice! Take as many private lessons as you can afford with a good golf pro.

Every one wants to deliver a powerful golf swing. People watch the videos of golf giants and then try to attain the same power in golf swing, which is impossible. You can achieve more power in golf swing by following a set schedule. Following tips will help you in achieving this.

Having strong shoulders

Golf swing can be as powerful as you want. The power comes from your physical fitness. The first thing to look into before empowering your golf swing is to improve your shoulders’ health. The more flexible and well balanced are your shoulders the more powerful will be your golf swing.

Cock your wrist

It is a kind of mandatory thing to cock your wrist during the back swing. It does hurt initially but you would be used to it after some time. This will help you in delivering powerful back swings.

Proper arm movements

In a proper golf swing, the left arm should turn clockwise slightly especially during the back swing. This is actually a natural movement and you have to do little to achieve this. What you actually have to do is to stop unknowingly resisting the movement. This could result in the head of your golf club to go open slightly when you swing it. This movement actually helps in boosting the golf swing.

Don’t loose your ground

Feet position is another factor which should be kept in mind if you want a power in your golf swing. Many golfers don’t play due attention to their feet position during the swing which results in a poor shot. You have to keep your feet firm to the ground in alignment with your club position for a powerful swing. There can be some flexibility in this if you are well experience but one foot should always stay firm in the ground.

Firm grip

The grip of a golfer on his golf club tells many things about his level of the game. The grip will be stronger if you have done proper muscle workout and physical exercises. A firm grip on the golf club will put sufficient pressure during the forward and back swing which results in a powerful shot.

Physical and mental fitness

An overall physically fit person can be a good golfer. This is a simple equation. You have to be strong both physically and mentally to deliver powerful golf swings. The physical fitness includes the healthy feet, legs, thighs, hips, shoulders, wrists and back. All of these body parts play a pivotal role in a power of golf swing. Similarly without mental concentration you can’t play a better game.

Finding a Great Golf Instructor is not difficult if you keep a couple of tips in mind. Whatever you do, don’t waste your money before you know how to find a good golf instructor. Golf instructors are like college professors. Good teachers have the knowledge, but great teachers can explain it in a simple yet fascinating way.

Taking golf lessons is not mandatory. However, consider taking a some lessons early on in your learning experience as a wise investment. Taking golf lessons for the first time will only provide you the basic concept of how and what to practice. Each student’s learning ability is totally different. Taking golf lessons from an instructor can impact your game if done correctly. Every golf course has at least one or more professionals who provide golf lessons. Here are some things to look for when finding a golf instructor.

Probably the most important thing that beginning golfers should do is learn the basics. Buy a book, either used or new, and familiarize yourself with the rules and customs of the game. You should know before you get instruction what to expect during your 30 min or 60 min session. If you understand the basics, then these are the techniques you should be working on with your instructor.

Recognize your price limits. Take into consideration the additional practice you will need at a driving range and playing practice rounds at the local golf course. Add up an amount that you’re willing to spend for lessons. Although you may prefer private lessons, group lessons are a lot lower in cost. You will still get a great deal of attention and teaching and have money left to spend on golf equipment.

Discover who are the best golf instructors. Ask friends and other golf players who know the pros at the golf club. When in uncertainty, demand to talk directly to the pro. Discover if your personalities mesh. You want a teacher who you like and respect. Visit additional golf courses if need be till you come up with an instructor you like and are comfortable with. Discover what they expect of their students.

Golf schools are not bad places to learn the game. They offer up lessons and exercises crammed into a week or two. It’s just about like boot camp for golfers. Numerous golf schools offer package deals that include golf lessons, practice sessions, rounds of golf as well as your hotel room and even meals. Although the price may seem high, look at the amount of golf instruction you will receive for your money. It may be well worth your while to attend a school.

Search online. With the fame of the World Wide Web you can now do much of your exploratory information gathering online. Search the web sites of your local golf courses. They’ll frequently list information on lessons including pricing and availability.

Localized park districts frequently put up golf lessons as part of their summer programming. These lessons are frequently offered by a local golf course at a fraction of the day-to-day cost because the park district is paying part of the bill. These are some great ways to try out lessons without making a large outlay of money.

I recently read an article that I wrote some time ago entitled “Stop Slicing A Golf Ball” which has now prompted me to write about what causes a golf slice. In all honesty my previous article was more about what causes a golf slice than it was about how to stop slicing. So let me try and rectify that here.

You can only slice a golf ball if two things occur. That is it - no more than two. Forget about everything else you have heard - I’ll explain in a little while.

The two things you have to do that cause a golf slice is strike the ball with an open club face on an out to in swing path.

What does this mean?

An Open Club Face.Let’s take a look at this first.

An open club face is when the leading edge of the club face is open at impact. To see what I mean pick up a six iron (or any other club) and address a ball. Without changing your grip, turn the face of the club in an anti-clockwise direction (right hand rolls over left for right handed golfers). By doing this you have “closed” the club face. Now turn the club in a clockwise direction (the right hand rolls under the left). You have now “opened” the club face.

So to cause a slice this is one aspect that must be present - an open club face.

Out-to-In Swing Path

The second aspect that has to exist (together with the open club face) is an “out-to-in” swing path. This is a bit more difficult to explain. Imagine you are the face of a clock and your belly button is the center of the clock. Now in slow motion take your club away to about the 2 o’clock position and then bring it back to about the 8 o’clock position.

Or another way is to describe it as pulling it from in front and away from your right foot to below and towards your left heel.

I hope all that makes sense.

Try and picture the golf slice as a tennis drop shot where the face of the racquet is kept open and the stroke is a diagonal slash through the ball causing it to spin in a clockwise direction.

So what does this all mean?

Firstly because you are hitting the ball from outside-to-in the ball will always take off left of where you are aiming. (Important note: “left of where you are aiming” could well be different to left of where you think you are aiming or left of where you want to be aiming. So check your alignment.) The law of physics says it must start off left if you hit it in that direction! It will only start curling to the right once the spin (caused by the open club face) starts taking effect - see below.

How many times have you tried to solve the problem of slicing by trying to hit the ball more to the left only to find that the slice is exaggerated further? The reason? You have increased the angle of your out-to-in swing path.

Secondly the clockwise spin imparted on the golf ball, as the result of the open club face, will cause it to go from left to right - because the ball is spinning in a clockwise direction. Because the club face was open at impact this spin is quite significant.

The only thing that can cause a golf slice is an open club face and an out-to-in swing path. Forget all this talk about grip, stance, posture, alignment, wrist cocking and all the other mumbo jumbo that your well intentioned mates tell you.

That stuff may be the reason you are cutting across the ball with an open club face but I can assure you that even though you may have the correct stance, grip, posture, etc. you can still cause a golf ball to slice.

I really do believe that many slices are made worse by well intended people trying to help. I would suggest that you learn a little about the basic golf swing. It really isn’t that complicated. And then you will know what you are doing to cause the two factors needed to slice a golf ball.

Now that you know what causes a golf slice what do you do about it? What is the easiest way to get rid of it? Well in my opinion the easiest way is to do some very slow motion drills walking your muscles through the swing. Repeat as often as possible and gradually speeding up until you have the correct swing path and club face through impact.

In my next article entitled “Avoid Slicing a Golf Ball” I will explain possible reasons for the out-to-in swing path and ways to fix it.

In the meanwhile please believe me that the cause of a golf slice is an out-to-in swing path with an open club face through impact.

As a qualified golf coach I get great pleasure in helping people improve their game. If an uncontrollable slice is one of your problems and you found this article helpful then you will find more help and a permanent solution on my website.

But please remember that no amount of coaching or lessons will help you if you are not prepared to put in a little bit of practice.

The sport of golf has undergone a massive revolution in recent years. This revolution is not any change in the way the game is played or any of its rules or basics rather the golfers themselves have developed a new approach to the game. In this approach they pay due attention to their level of physical fitness which has a big effect on their game.

This realization is now being spread world wide and you will find that the old perception about golf being a sport that one plays in order to relax has drastically been transformed into the notion that golf is an athlete’s game. It may sound funny to those who have not yet witnessed the change in the sport but take a look at all the golfing professionals and the stress that they now lay down on physical fitness for optimum performance in the sport.

Traditionally we would see the above 60 generation to be playing golf as a way of passing all the spare time that they have after retirement. But with the world wide popularity of golf and the intense competition on the professional level in the game this idea has been transformed into a new and radical school of thought.

You need to be fit and maintain that fitness in order to be on top of your game. As it is the importance of keeping fit can not be undermined even in our everyday lives but when it comes to sport, any sport, fitness is a prerequisite for good performance.

And now such is the case with the sport of golf as well. This is why you will find that many golfing industry has now developed golf fitness systems and these are paid equal importance to that of proper training of the game. In fact the golf instructor and the physical trainer work in coordination to maximize the benefits for the golfer.

You will find that just like most professional golf players have there own caddy with them on tour they now have a new member to their team. This new member is the golf fitness specialists who develop a whole fitness system for the player. The system is developed after a detailed examination of the golfer’s physical condition which is assessed through a variety of tests that are undertaken by the golfer.

Based on the results obtained the fitness trainer develops a whole system of exercises to be performed at different times so as to increase the body flexibility, strength and endurance. Moreover the diet for professional golf players is also regulated to ensure the intake of only the most nutritious of foods that have a positive effect on the player’s heath.

There are many benefits that the golfer receives as a result of following a fitness system constructed by a specialist. One of the benefits is that the body becomes stronger which puts less stress on the muscles throughout the whole process of the game.

The increased level of endurance ensures that the body will not tire out hence not enabling the golfer to perform at his optimum level. Many other benefits can be achieved from the increased strength of the body such as the ability to drive the ball over greater distances and with much more accuracy.

For more information on a golf fitness system, visit the golf fitness plan site.
